"It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad."

'n things

I haven't spent enough time at home this week to actually process any of the pictures I snapped of my weekend. :P It's times like this I wish I had instagram or something so it would all just magically appear. Even that wish is not enough to induce me to purchase a smart phone (aka pet robot doing a anthropological study on me). So, hopefully this post will get updated with pictures...sometime....soonish... :P

I made ice cream again this weekend. It's like an addiction. There are 6 flavors in the freezer right now.

I also made hand cream, and learned that aloe does not mix with other substances of its own free will. In fact, it's obstinant and separates as soon as you leave it unattended.

I also made granola, that mixed rather better than the hand cream. It also stayed mixed, and this time I didn't burn it (yay!). I tried a variation on my usual mix, completely omitting the brown sugar and instead mixing up maple syrup with the grapeseed and olive oil and cinnamon before mixing it in with the dry ingrediants. I think it worked. If I still like it by the end of the batch and if I can reproduce it, I will have to share the recipe.

  1. I am interested in how the maple syrup turned out. I want to try molasses & keep forgetting.
